The Art of War.
I was having a conversation last night with one of my best friends. We were talking about the idea of struggling in life versus having everything handed to you. This is something I’ve been struggling with a lot lately. My friend had some encouraging words to say on the subject, and I felt renewed afterwards. This morning I was doing my daily reading through the Chronological Bible (a one year reading plan that orders the bible chronologically), and came across this passage in Judges.
”These are the nations that the Lord left in the land to test those Israelites who had not experienced the wars of Canaan. He did this to teach warfare to generations of Israelites who had no experience in battle.” - Judges 3: 1-2 NLT
I couldn’t help but think about my conversation from last night. No, we may not all get to have things handed to us in life (though it’s totally fine if you’re someone the Lord has blessed in that manner), but in the midst of struggle, sometimes it’s good to stop and remember that the Lord places those struggles in our lives for a reason. Not so that we lose hope or become discouraged, but simply so that we can learn to fight. This life will always be a struggle in some manner or another, and we must be prepared. What challenges has He put in your life recently? And more importantly, what are you learning from them?
