A Journal Excerpt - 12.01.11.
1 Corinthians 4:7 - “…What do you have that God hasn’t given you? And if everything you have is from God, why boast as though it were not a gift?” I want to always be striving to live out this philosophy in detail in my life. It’s the fruit I want to have be produced in my worldview. I want to come to the point where I not only claim everything I have as a gift from...

Supplement Review: BSN's N.O. Xplode 2.0
From time to time I get asked about the various supplements I use in my weightlifting. As fitness and exercising are things that are important to me, I thought it might be fun to start doing some reviews on supplements I use or supplements I try that impress me. If this doesn’t interest you then feel free not to finish reading this one. I won’t be offended. :) This time I want to talk...

Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.

Two Weeks.
As I sit here typing this, it’s currently Sunday night, August 7th, 2011. It’s quiet in the house. I usually listen to music while I’m at my computer, but I want things to be silent for a reason. This is important. I plan on posting this blog on Monday, August 8th, which will mark the date two weeks before I undertake the biggest project I have imagined thus far in my life.

A Journal Excerpt - 08.03.11.
From my journal yesterday, continuing through Romans. Romans 11:11 “Did God’s people stumble and fall beyond recovery? Of course not! They were disobedient, so God made salvation available to the gentiles. But He wanted His own people to become jealous and claim it for themselves.” I just love the first part of this verse. Especially given the history of Israel with God. They...

Romans 8: 35-39
“Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

A Journal Excerpt - 07.06.11.
A journal excerpt from my study of Romans 5 this morning, in regards to anyone claiming they know for sure what God will do or how God will act. “God is so much bigger than our tiny human collective conscious can even begin to comprehend. I don’t know why people are so obsessed with trying to take apart the puzzle pieces. Taking a puzzle apart doesn’t mean you can understand the...

Cicadas, Tornadoes, and Connections.
I’ve been thinking a lot tonight. Earlier I was sitting out on my porch, enjoying a nice session with my tobacco pipe, completely surrounded by cicadas. For those of you in middle Tennessee, you know what I’m talking about all too well. For those of you who don’t, currently in middle TN we are experiencing what is known as the 13 year brood of cicada. These are a certain breed of...

The Art of War.
I was having a conversation last night with one of my best friends. We were talking about the idea of struggling in life versus having everything handed to you. This is something I’ve been struggling with a lot lately. My friend had some encouraging words to say on the subject, and I felt renewed afterwards. This morning I was doing my daily reading through the Chronological Bible (a one...

Body Mass Index vs. Body Fat Percentage
A quick note: I saw a program on TV today talking a lot about how important it is to know your BMI (Body Mass Index). While I think your BMI is a good starting point for gauging fitness, it is not by any means something to be held seriously. It is just a comparison of height and weight. That’s it. At 5’9” and 178 pounds, my BMI is technically 26.6, which falls well into the...
